The Board of the Warwick Township Water and Sewer Authority adopted its 2011 budget that holds rates at their current level for the third consecutive year. “The Board believes that this zero percent increase during this continued difficult economic time is a clear message of our commitment to our customers”, said Michael Sullivan, Executive Director of the Authority.
“Warwick Township Water and Sewer Authority is committed to being fiscally sound during these continued difficult economic times. However, keeping budget levels flat over the last several years has proven to be challenging due to increased operating cost”.
Warwick Township Water and Sewer Authority purchases 100% of its water from Aqua Pennsylvania and has absorbed their rate increase (4.2% over the last three years) during this time. To offset those costs the Authority has postponed filling several open positions and is deferring capital projects where possible.
“In developing the 2011 budget, we worked hard to ensure that we keep rates affordable for our customers while still maintaining a safe and reliable system for the community”, said Board Chairman Paul Stavrides. “Our staff has operated and managed effectively to allow us to hold our current rate structure again this year”.
